Science, face to face
Macaronight 2026 (European Researchers’ Night) was organised by the Universidade da Madeira (UMa) with the goal to bring science closer to society and show the public what the university’s research community is working on.
Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, UMa presented research areas, projects and activities in an accessible, hands-on format. Visitors could talk directly with researchers and see how research responds to today’s challenges and to the sustainable development of Madeira.
A strong focus was placed on young people: sparking curiosity, building interest in science, and showing that research is part of everyday life.

Why our marketing agency took part
Great research deserves an audience as good as the work itself.
Madeira produces serious science. Marine biology, the Laurisilva forest, health challenges, engineering, tourism, food sustainability, the social sciences. Much of it stays inside journals and conference rooms.
We were at Macaronight because that gap is exactly where marketing can help. Explaining complex work clearly. Putting it in front of the right people. Turning interest into partnerships and support.
It was also a chance to meet the people behind the research, hear what they are building, and understand what stands between their work and a wider audience.
